You are what you Eat: Creating a Healthy Relationship with Food, October 4th from 7 to 8:00 p.m.
Peaceful Solutions for Emotional Eating. Everyone soothes uncomfortable feelings with something. For many of us, it’s food, and it can lead to weight gain, fatigue and more. In this class, I’ll share my own stories of emotional eating, and how I overcame it. We’ll talk about guilt, shame, the “diet” mindset, and self-compassion. If you’ve struggled with emotional eating, please attend this class. I promise you’ll learn practical solutions for how you can feel better in a healthy, even joyful, way. Oak Lawn Public Library

Story Walk ~ Fall Fun, October 9th from 1 to 2 p.m.

Meet staff from Oak Lawn Public Library and the Park District at Lake Shore Park (9610 E Shore Dr, Oak Lawn) to walk the trail while reading "The Busy Little Squirrel" by Nancy Tafuri. Also a craft and activity to complement the book. Ages 3-7 with an adult.

In this class, you’ll learn the essentials of setting yourself up for a healthier life. We talk about time management, prioritizing, and planning in terms of grocery shopping, meal prep, and physical activity. You’ll have to make some changes, but you’ll feel motivated and inspired after this class. Oak Lawn Public Library

SWF Concert: Jazz Classics with Roberta Miles, October 15th from 2 to 3 p.m.

A regular at famous jazz haunts in Chicagoland, sultry singer Roberta Miles brings her mesmerizing sound to the Library for an afternoon of romantic jazz classics. Oak Lawn Public Library

Climate Change: What Can We Do About It? October 18th from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Raymond Wiggers, author of the guidebook Geology Underfoot in Illinois, presents this richly illustrated lecture describing the greatest environmental dilemma of our time - global warming and what we can do about it. Oak Lawn Public Library

Refreshing Reads, October 24th at 7:30 p.m.

In the Woods by Tana French. The first in a series involving the Dublin Murder Squad, this police procedural/psychological thriller follows the murder investigation of a twelve-year-old girl that is eerily similar to an unsolved murder of two young boys 20 years earlier. The location was the same and the only survivor was the detective now assigned to the current case. A lively discussion at the Avenue Flower Shop and Wine Bar 10632 S. Cicero. No registration needed and all are welcome!

Scary Movie Trivia Night, October 26th from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Do you like scary movies? Then this is the trivia competition for you! Test your knowledge of your favorite horror films and see how much you can recall about Freddy, Jason, Mike Myers, and all the classic horror movie villains. Oak Lawn Public Library

Shopkins Swap! October 29th from 1 to 2 p.m.

Do you have duplicate Shopkins, or Shopkins that you would like to trade? Then this is the program for you! Bring only the Shopkins that you want to trade, set up shop in the downstairs meeting rooms, and be ready to make trades with other patrons. You will need to be accompanied by a caregiver. Your caregiver will watch over your Shopkins, while you look around at the Shopkins that other patrons have brought to the swap. (For Ages 6-10 with a caregiver) Registration not required.
